lovely colours, well done
-- pls, visit my [link] as sunshine flows into tree, the winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves. John Muir well, some criticism for a change
1. a minor one - i think you should darken a tiny part of grass right behind the models nose - it looks quite funny ))) 2. this shot has way too great out-of-focus part, either distracting viewer`s attention, or being totally ignored PS don`t get me wrong i like your works (obvious, heh))), the model is really beautifull and this shot is of a kind i like most in your works |

The title is open to ambiguity of intent, but the pose, dress, and styling may seem to imply a sexual connotation, however the colour composition is what is most striking. The soothing color choice, object of focus, and the implication from the background is zen like. While the landscape contrasts our lady fair, that is exactly the point. Matching the obscured background, the skin tones are even with the composition and again, the dress really brings out not just a human figure, but a story that could go this way or that.
Even without reading the title, the anticipation and loneliness are palpable. The fact that she orients her body away from the water's edge and is staring over her shoulder implies that the person for whom she waits is not visible over the horizon nor does she expect his arrival anytime soon. It is almost a casual glance, hopeful but with a certain wariness.
Dressed more to charm or seduce, she appears out of her element amongst the tall grass and bare trees- which only hightens the anticipation. It is important to her to survey the waters- important enough for her to wait in clothes more appropriate for a late night rendezvous.
A nice detail is the perspective and the blurry foreground. By crouching down to her level and hiding behind a few blades of grass, it is a very intimate portrait; almost as if we are voyeurs intruding on a private vigil.
Your choices in regards to focus makes quite an impact as well. The model is the one who should captivate our attention, and as such she is the one held in sharp focus. The blurriness of the autumn bare trees on the right side, in a way, exaggerates the distance she looks off into.
The one issue I have is in regards to the juxtaposition of a highly sharpened model with such a blurry landscape. The landscape takes up just as much space in this portrait as the model, but the area where the two overlap is very distinct. Maybe it would help to sharpen those right sided branches a just a little more.
What I particularly love is the color scheme. Her dark hair excentuates her porcelain skin but it also provides a nice contrast to the background. As a whole, the portrait has a sort of retro feel to it. The type of color palatte and vision that reminds me of old photographs- the ones taken of women waiting for their loved ones to return from war.
Overall this is a stunning portrait. Very jealous of your ability to capture scenes like this. Bravo!
P.S.
Fantastic title choice as well.
